 THE
NEW MARINA IN LA CALA DE MIJAS
The Mijas Town Hall is continuously
giving out new information regarding their urbanistic plans. One
of their new projects consists of building a new Marina in La Cala
de Mijas. This region does not have any kind of installation of
this type within the 13 kilometres of coastline.
The Town Hall has received a proposal from a group of investors
to construct a Marina with approximately 2000 berths.
The new Port Marina will be built on the La Cala beach where there
are only stones and rocks and practically no beach area.
The proposal is accompanied by a detailed study and confirms that
with the correct construction, the beach area will return to a sandy
beach.
They will create a better access from the N340, both on land and
underground.
The study, which was made by the town hall, emphasises that the
port will be a new economical investment for Mijas by attracting
more tourists. Many new jobs will be created not only in the construction
industry but also in the public sector. It will also create an opportunity
to study various technical and environmental issues as well as archaeological
studies of the area.
